Low temperature ball valves are mainly suitable for chemical plants such as ethylene and liquefied natural gas, which output liquid low-temperature media such as ethylene, liquid oxygen, liquid hydrogen, etc. This type of medium is not only flammable and explosive, but also needs to vaporize and expand hundreds of times in volume when heated. Moreover, these media have strong permeability, are prone to leakage, and are difficult to process and manufacture.
Low temperature ball valves have a structure to prevent abnormal pressure rise. Due to the rapid expansion of the volume of the low-temperature valve medium after gasification, the pressure will rise abnormally. When the pressure in the valve chamber increases, the valve chamber and inlet are connected, or a pressure relief valve is installed at the inlet end of the valve to ensure safe use of the valve.
The working conditions of low-temperature valves are harsh, and most of their working media are flammable, explosive, and highly permeable substances. The lowest working temperature can reach -269 ℃, and the highest operating pressure can reach 10MPa. Therefore, the design, manufacturing, and inspection of low-temperature valves are significantly different from those of general-purpose valves.
The key to low-temperature valves is deep cryogenic treatment, which ensures that all parameters of the low-temperature valve meet the requirements, especially the expansion coefficient, so as not to cause various valve jamming situations during use. Sometimes when considering the issue of price, we also need to consider the quality of the valve. Low temperature valves belong to special valves.
In fact, most of the low-temperature valves in China have not undergone low-temperature cryogenic treatment, which can be expensive. Here, I can give you a rough estimate. If you add a set of cryogenic equipment yourself, the cost is high, and the price of cryogenic equipment is expensive. In addition to the necessary materials, liquid nitrogen is also a difficult storage medium. In addition, a large amount of liquid nitrogen is consumed in the treatment of a valve, and the price of liquid nitrogen is not cheap. Our factory undergoes special low-temperature treatment on the low-temperature valves produced. The rough machined parts are placed in a cooling medium for several hours (2-8 hours) to release stress, ensure the low-temperature performance of the material, guarantee the precision machining size, and prevent valve leakage caused by temperature changes during low-temperature conditions.
