Overview and Application of Diaphragm Type Steam Traps

The main components of a membrane type steam trap include the valve body, valve cover, membrane box, diaphragm, valve seat, and filter screen. When the membrane type steam trap is in operation, there is high-temperature condensed water in front of the valve, and there is no steam leakage, resulting in significant energy-saving effects. The advantages of the membrane type steam trap are: active air discharge, small volume, not afraid of freezing, and can be assembled at any position; Convenient preservation, able to test maintenance and replace parts on pipelines; The high back pressure rate is ≤ 80%, and the membrane box is firm.
The main operating component of the membrane type steam trap is the metal membrane box, which is filled with a liquid with a vaporization temperature lower than the saturation temperature of water. When the device is just started, the pipeline reveals low-temperature condensed water, and the liquid inside the membrane box is in a condensed state. The valve is in the open position. As the temperature of the condensed water gradually increases, the liquid inside the membrane box evaporates initially, and the pressure inside the membrane box increases. The diaphragm valve core moves towards the direction of closing the door. Before the condensed water reaches saturation temperature, the drain valve is completely closed, and the membrane box inhibits the valve switch with the change of steam temperature, playing a role in blocking steam and draining water. There are two types of bellows available for selection: one with a valve opening temperature lower than the saturation temperature of 15 ° C and the other with a temperature lower than 30 ° C.
The membrane type steam trap is widely used for blocking and draining steam in steam main pipelines, steam tracing pipelines, instrument tracing, and small heating facilities. It has a wide range of applications.
